Permanent Supportive Housing

Based on a nationally successful model, Shelter Plus Care, the Permanent Supportive Housing program helps chronically homeless individuals and families move into and maintain permanent housing. After clients are housed in safe, affordable community-based housing, they receive supportive services such as case management, employment training, and behavioral health services that will assist them in achieving their goals.

Ben and Bettye Barnes Center

The Ben and Bettye Barnes Center is a remarkable facility that offers permanent supportive housing to single women with disabilities. This center is designed to accommodate up to 16 residents, providing them with a safe and secure living space. Additionally, program tenants at the Barnes Center receive valuable supportive services, including case management and community resource referrals.

The primary focus of the center is to provide a long-term solution for women who are living with disabilities. By offering permanent supportive housing, the Barnes Center helps these individuals overcome the challenges posed by homelessness and disability. The facility ensures that the residents have a stable place to call home, allowing them to regain their independence and improve their overall well-being.

In addition to providing housing, the Barnes Center goes above and beyond by offering essential supportive services. Through case management, the residents receive personalized assistance in various areas of their lives. This may involve helping them access medical and disability-related services, securing financial assistance, or assisting with job placement and vocational training. The case managers work closely with each resident to identify their specific needs and develop a customized support plan to achieve their goals.

The Barnes Center recognizes the importance of connecting its residents with community resources. By facilitating community resource referrals, the center ensures that the residents have access to a wide range of services and programs available in the surrounding community. These resources may include mental health support, educational opportunities, transportation services, recreational activities, and more. By linking the residents to these resources, the Barnes Center strives to create a holistic support system that addresses every aspect of their lives.
